NBC’s Parade of Stars

A few weeks ago, I introduced you to some of the stars of the CBS radio network. Today we’ll take a look at some of the rival offerings NBC sent across the airwaves in the late 1940s.

First off I must thank artist Sam Berman for drawing these wonderful caricatures. They were part of a 1947 book called “NBC Parade of Stars!”

Each featured a different NBC celebrity, along with the title of their radio program. Let’s take a look at a few.

Here’s iconic funny man Art Linkletter who entertained generations of Americans. One of his classic shows was called People are Funny.

The first programs to cross the airwaves when radio was born were musical offerings. One of NBC’s earliest, and longest lasting series, featured their own symphony orchestra.
